Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our team at the SMBC headquarters in London. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a prestigious corporate environment while helping to maintain a safe, compliant and efficient workplace.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced engineer with either electrical or mechanical qualifications and a strong background in building services maintenance. You'll join a supportive team environment with opportunities to develop your career, including progression to Lead Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across site.
• Respond to reactive maintenance tasks, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing and minor fabric repairs.
• Complete routine site inspections, checks and asset monitoring.
• Supervise and coordinate specialist subcontractors working on site.
• Support compliance activities and maintain accurate statutory documentation.
• Undertake fault finding, problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
• Complete risk assessments and follow health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Provide updates to stakeholders and support contract performance objectives.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

• Electrical or Mechanical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Strong maintenance experience within facilities management or building services.
• Strong fault-finding and maintenance experience within commercial buildings.
• Experience carrying out both reactive and planned maintenance tasks.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
