Maintenance Engineer

One of the UK’s largest PVC Cable Management manufacturers requires an experienced, electrically biased Maintenance Engineer to join their dedicated Production team. The role of Maintenance Engineer will be to maximise factory utilisation and yield by competently carrying out preventative planned maintenance and breakdown repair services.

Previous experience within a manufacturing environment dealing with 3-Phase installations and electrical fault finding is essential. Successful candidates for the position of Maintenance Engineer should hold an Electrical 18th Edition BS7671 qualification, be Mechanical Engineering qualified and available to fulfil a rotating shift pattern. Offered as a permanent contract, the role provides an attractive salary and an immediate start.

Maintenance Engineer duties include:

  • Diagnose and repair faults on extrusion lines, injection moulding machines, compounding plant and chillers under tight time pressures
  • Carry out timely execution of preventative planned maintenance (PPM) routines to minimise factory downtime
  • Assist with tooling support including barrel and screw changes and thermocouple/heater band installations
  • Maintain site infrastructure including cooling, lighting, plumbing and material feeding systems
  • Modify machinery and upgrade controls to continually improve production efficiency and safety standards

Successful candidates for the role of Maintenance Engineer require the following:

  • 18th Edition BS7671 and fully qualified in 3-phase electrical installations – essential
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification (BTEC or equivalent) and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret both mechanical and electrical schematic drawings
  • Proven troubleshooting experience with PLC fault-finding, AC/DC drives and temperature control panels
  • Practical knowledge of troubleshooting high-pressure hydraulic circuits and pneumatic systems safely
  • Knowledge and experience in the plastics sector – desirable
  • High attention to detail with a proactive approach to workplace Health & Safety (LOTO)

Location: Redditch, Worcestershire
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 6am – 2pm and 2pm – 10pm (rotating weekly)
Salary: £39,000 p.a. dependent upon experience
