Maintenance Engineer

Working alongside an experienced Maintenance Engineer, you'll receive hands-on support while playing an important role in keeping the factory running efficiently. The Role
You'll be responsible for carrying out both preventative and reactive maintenance across a busy steel manufacturing environment, ensuring machinery and production equipment operate safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery.
- Responding quickly to breakdowns and completing reactive repairs.
- Fault finding and diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues.
- Assisting with machinery servicing, repairs and continuous improvement projects.
- Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime.
- Maintaining a safe and organised working environment.
- Supporting the senior Maintenance Engineer with day-to-day maintenance activities.
- Contributing ideas to improve equipment reliability and factory efficiency.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and committed to developing a long-term career.
Ideally you'll have:
- Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment, or
- A qualification or practical experience in Electrical, Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering.
- A practical, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good common sense and a positive attitude towards learning.
- Strong reliability and excellent timekeeping.
- Flexibility to work overtime when required.
Applicants looking for a trainee opportunity should have previous industrial experience together with a strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn.
Overtime
There is regular overtime available due to the busy nature of the business.
Overtime is paid at:
- Time and one-third during the week.
- Time and a half on Saturdays.
Candidates should be flexible to support occasional early starts and Saturday working when required.
