As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll play a key role in keeping our clients tube manufacturing and value‑added processing equipment running safely, efficiently and reliably. This is a hands‑on role in a fast‑paced environment where no two days are the same.

The Role

You’ll be part of the Maintenance Department, responsible for the day‑to‑day mechanical and electrical upkeep of production machinery. You’ll respond to breakdowns, complete planned and preventative maintenance and ensure all work is logged accurately in the maintenance system.

You’ll work closely with Department Managers and shop‑floor teams, building strong relationships through clear communication and a proactive approach to problem‑solving. Your work will directly support production uptime, safety and continuous improvement across the factory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns, minimising downtime.
  • Carry out planned and preventative maintenance in line with the maintenance schedule.
  • Fault‑find across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Work safely at all times, following company procedures and H&S legislation.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and contractors when required.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and take pride in the quality of your output.
  • Log all completed work, parts used and critical spares on the maintenance system.
  • Support improvement projects within the tube, slitting and wider factory areas.
  • Report potential issues to the Plant Manager and Production Manager.
  • Participate in overtime (planned and reactive) to support business needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • City & Guilds, BTEC or apprenticeship in an engineering discipline.
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge; experience in medium to heavy manufacturing.
  • Experience with precision machinery.
  • Welding and fabrication basics.
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic knowledge (advantageous).
  • PC literacy for maintenance systems and machine interfaces.
  • Confident fault‑finding across mechanical and electrical environments.

Full training on machinery and plant will be provided during probation, with further development opportunities available once passed.
