Maintenance Engineer

Launceston
Circa £43,000 + Overtime + Benefits
Mon to Fri Days | 5:00am - 2:00pm | No Nights

Looking for a maintenance role without 12-hour shifts or nights?

We're recruiting a Maintenance Engineer for a large, established manufacturing site in the Launceston area, offering an attractive days-based shift pattern alongside plenty of hands-on engineering work.

Working 5:00am - 2:00pm, you'll finish early enough to have your afternoons and evenings back, with no night shifts. There is also a 1 in 4 week call-out rota where you will be paid overtime at enhanced rates for any callouts.

This is a busy production environment where engineering plays a critical role in keeping the site running. You'll get involved in breakdowns, fault-finding, planned maintenance, machinery repairs and improvement work across a varied range of production equipment.

The Role

  • Electrical and mechanical fault-finding across production and processing machinery

  • Responding to breakdowns and getting equipment safely back into production

  • Planned and preventative maintenance

  • Fault-finding on motors, sensors, contactors, relays, drives and electrical control systems

  • Mechanical repairs including bearings, belts, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, pumps and seals

  • Fault-finding and repairs across pneumatic and hydraulic systems

  • Supporting machinery modifications, installations and improvement projects

  • Identifying recurring faults and helping improve equipment reliability

  • Participating in a 1 in 4 call-out rota

What We're Looking For

We're open on industry background and would be interested in engineers from manufacturing, food/FMCG, packaging, automotive, aerospace, heavy industry, marine or Armed Forces backgrounds.

Ideally, you'll be apprentice-trained or hold a recognised Level 3 engineering qualification, with good hands-on maintenance and fault-finding experience.

You don't need to be a perfect 50/50 multi-skilled engineer. Electrically or mechanically biased engineers will be considered, providing you're comfortable carrying out maintenance across both disciplines.

What's on Offer?

  • Circa £43,000 per annum

  • Overtime opportunities

  • Days-based 5:00am - 2:00pm hours

  • No night shifts

  • 1 in 4 call-out rota

  • Early finishes giving you your afternoons and evenings back

  • Permanent position with a large, established manufacturing business

  • Varied machinery and genuine hands-on engineering work
