Maintenance Fitter - Manufacturing - Burnley - £33,000
 
About the Job
 
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Maintenance Person to join a fantastic manufacturing business in Burnley. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the daily maintenance of the site and machinery. 
 
This is a practical, varied role suited to someone who enjoys being hands-on and can use their initiative without needing to be closely managed. The machinery is traditional rather than highly automated or technically complex, so we're looking for someone with strong practical mechanical experience who is comfortable dealing with general maintenance, repairs and the occasional odd job.
 
There will also be an opportunity to mentor and support an apprentice, helping to develop the next generation of maintenance talent!
 
Maintenance Fitter - The Details
  • Salary: £33,078.24 per annum
  • Hours: Day shift, with some flexibility around start and finish times
  • Early finish on a Friday 
  • Friday: Potential for an earlier finish, around 1:00pm
  • Location: On-site / in person

The role is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied day and is happy working across mechanical maintenance, machinery, general building maintenance and site checks.
 
Maintenance Fitter - Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance across site machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain and repair mechanical components including bearings, gearboxes, motors and clutches.
  • Identify and resolve mechanical issues to minimise machinery downtime.
  • Experience working with bearings, gearboxes, motors, clutches and similar mechanical components.
  • Carry out general building and site maintenance as required.
  • Complete routine fire alarm and fire pump checks.
  • Use general machine shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Work alongside production teams to plan maintenance and minimise disruption.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs and inspections.
  • Work safely and ensure all maintenance activity complies with relevant health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
  • Comfortable supporting and mentoring an apprentice.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a practical approach to maintenance.
  • Work with external machinery suppliers where specialist technical support is required.
  • Support and mentor the on-site apprentice, sharing practical knowledge and maintenance skills.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day maintenance and use your initiative to identify and resolve issues before they become larger problems.
