Shift: Monday - Friday Day Shift (6am - 2pm / 2pm - 11pm rotating weekly)

A leading timber manufacturing business is looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their growing team at their site in Humbie, Edinburgh.

Role Overview 

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will work as a maintenance fitter as part of the maintenance team to maximise plant reliability, reduce downtime, and support production performance through both reactive and planned maintenance activities. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Respond quickly and effectively to plant downtime to maximise production output 

  • Repair and replace damaged or faulty plant equipment 

  • Interrogate, fault find, and resolve issues across mechanical systems 

  • Record completed work accurately using internal IT systems 

  • Support summer and winter overhaul programmes to maintain plant reliability 

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and maintenance meetings 

  • Carry out repair and overhaul of plant and equipment as required 

  • Complete work permits and ensure strict adherence to health and safety standards 

  • Build effective working relationships across production and maintenance teams 

  • Support special projects as required 

Your Profile 

  • Must be fully qualified Mechanical Maintenance Fitter  

  • Experience within a heavy mechanical or industrial manufacturing environment 

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability 

  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting 

  • High attention to detail with a results-driven mindset 

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills 

  • Well-organised with the ability to follow direction and work independently 

  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to maintenance 

  • Experience using maintenance or production systems
