Maintenance Manager

Worksop | Full-time, Permanent | UK-based applications only, NO Sponsorship

Our client

We're working with a well-established and rapidly growing manufacturer of hydraulic handling equipment, who are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Manager to join their Worksop site.

Having grown turnover significantly over the past five years, our client is investing heavily in site infrastructure and systems as part of a major improvement programme. This is a newly created role and will play a key part in that investment, offering genuine scope to shape how facilities and maintenance are managed on site.

The Role

You'll take ownership of day-to-day facilities and maintenance management across the site, working closely with production, operations, and external contractors to keep everything running smoothly. This is a hands-on position - you won't have a team, but you'll be a visible, proactive presence on the shop floor, equally comfortable picking up tools yourself as you are coordinating contractors or reporting to senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and reactive repairs across site infrastructure and equipment
  • Carrying out hands-on repairs and maintenance tasks (e.g. basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical fixes) where appropriate
  • Managing and supervising contractors, including safety compliance, permits to work, and risk assessments
  • Ensuring the site meets statutory compliance requirements (fire, electrical, gas, water hygiene) and supporting audits and inspections
  • Coordinating site services including HVAC, lighting, waste, and security
  • Supporting production by ensuring tooling and equipment are serviced and available
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and driving the move toward digital maintenance management systems
  • Tracking maintenance budgets, invoices, and purchase orders

About You

  • Experience in a facilities, maintenance, or operations role within a manufacturing or industrial environment (automotive background not required)
  • A genuine hands-on approach - comfortable carrying out minor repairs and maintenance tasks independently
  • Experience managing contractors and service providers
  • A practical trade background (e.g. electrical, plumbing, carpentry)
  • IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety certification
  • IPAF MEWP certification
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and open to working with maintenance/facilities software systems
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with strong communication skills across all levels of the business
