This is an opportunity for a skilled, hands-on Maintenance Operative to carry out repairs and maintenance across a varied portfolio of commercial and residential properties, including traditional period buildings.
You’ll work alongside an experienced Maintenance Team Leader, supporting day-to-day repairs, planned maintenance and general upkeep. Tasks will range from fixing leaking taps and replacing fittings to painting, carpentry and assembling furniture.
The role offers a supportive working environment and would suit a practical all-rounder who takes pride in their work and is keen to develop their skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive repairs and planned maintenance across commercial and residential properties.
- Undertake general plumbing, carpentry, painting, flooring and minor electrical maintenance within your competence.
- Repair or replace lights, taps, locks, doors, fixtures and fittings.
- Complete basic fault finding on plumbing and electrical fixtures.
- Respond to breakdowns and urgent repair requests.
- Conduct property inspections and report maintenance issues.
- Assist with furniture assembly and general handywork.
- Support the Maintenance Team Leader and work alongside contractors when required.
- Keep tools, materials and work areas safe, tidy and organised.
- Previous experience in a hands-on maintenance role.
- Good all-round practical skills and confidence using hand and power tools.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Organised and capable of managing your workload within agreed timeframes.
- Reliable, proactive and committed to delivering quality work.
- Willing to carry out work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
- A full UK driving licence and reliable transport to work are essential.
- Experience maintaining commercial and residential properties.
- Practical skills across several trades, such as plumbing, carpentry, decorating and flooring.
- Experience working with traditional or period buildings.
- Relevant trade or maintenance qualifications, although practical experience can be considered instead.
- 20 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
