As part of the Rydon Group, Rydon Maintenance provides hard facilities management services to NHS Trusts across England, supporting over 250 buildings nationwide. We work with hospitals, ambulance services, primary care, and mental health trusts to ensure safe, compliant, and well-maintained environments through innovative maintenance solutions.

Job Purpose

As a Multi-Skilled Plumbing Engineer, you will support the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs for a leading NHS provider of emergency and urgent healthcare services.

The role is primarily focused on plumbing maintenance, although you will also undertake a range of general building maintenance tasks, including:

  • Basic electrical repairs, such as replacing light fittings and lamps
  • Carpentry and ironmongery works, including door handles and locks
  • General fabric repairs and maintenance
  • Planned compliance checks, including temperature monitoring and emergency lighting inspections
  • Minor upgrade and improvement works

This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to develop a broad range of maintenance skills while contributing to the delivery of essential healthcare services.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Participation in an on-call rota is required, with additional payments for call-outs and overtime.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • Company van and fuel card
  • 33 days annual leave, including bank holidays
  • Option to purchase up to 5 additional days' leave
  • Contributory pension scheme (4%)
  • On-call allowance and overtime payments
  • Health Cash Plan
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
  • Wellbeing and mental health support
  • Employee discounts on a wide range of products and services
  • Flexible benefits, including Critical Illness Cover, DenPlan, and Cycle to Work schemes
  • Employee Referral Scheme
  • Free eye care vouchers
  • Ongoing training and career development opportunities

About You

You will have experience in building maintenance, ideally within an NHS environment or for a maintenance contractor delivering planned and reactive services. Applications are also welcomed from candidates with commercial maintenance experience in sectors such as education, retail, hospitality, or public services.

A plumbing qualification is desirable but not essential. Candidates with relevant practical experience will also be considered.

You will additionally have:

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Experience across a range of building maintenance disciplines, such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, or general repairs
  • Strong customer service skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
