Maintenance Team Leader

£41,000, Days Only (4 on / 4 off)

Join a well-established business in a hands-on Maintenance Team Leader role offering variety, training and long-term progression, while taking responsibility for leading day-to-day maintenance activity across site.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Fitter, Senior Engineer or Maintenance Team Leader who enjoys staying hands-on while coordinating workload, supporting engineers and driving high standards across planned, reactive and improvement-focused maintenance.

The Role

  • Leading and supporting the maintenance team while remaining hands-on with day-to-day engineering tasks
  • Overseeing a maintenance workload split of around 70% mechanical and 30% electrical activity
  • Coordinating planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown response across site
  • Supporting fault finding, strip down, inspection and rebuild of machinery
  • Assisting with electrical fault finding on wiring, motors and control panels
  • Supporting basic PLC fault diagnosis and helping the team resolve equipment issues efficiently
  • Leading installation, upgrades and commissioning activity for new equipment where required
  • Working with hydraulic systems and lifting equipment, ensuring safe maintenance standards are followed
  • Carrying out and overseeing MIG welding, racking repairs and general site maintenance tasks
  • Maintaining mechanical handling and production equipment to support smooth operational performance
  • Completing and coordinating condition-based inspections including bearings, drives and alignment checks
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to reliability, safety and equipment performance
  • Allocating work, setting priorities and ensuring maintenance tasks are completed safely and efficiently
  • Providing day-to-day guidance, support and technical input to engineers and maintenance fitters



About You

We're keen to hear from candidates with a solid engineering foundation, strong hands-on maintenance experience and the confidence to lead others in a practical, site-based role:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or a time-served equivalent background
  • Strong mechanical or electro-mechanical fitting experience
  • Confident fault finding on hydraulics, motors and control panels
  • Basic knowledge of control systems, PLCs and sensors
  • Previous experience supervising, mentoring or leading engineers would be beneficial
  • Comfortable allocating work, setting priorities and supporting the team on technical issues
  • Comfortable with physical work and occasional working at height
  • Safety-conscious with a continuous improvement mindset
  • A hands-on leadership style with the ability to lead by example

Shift Pattern

  • 4 on / 4 off
  • 6:00am - 6:00pm (days only - no nights)
