Maintenance Engineer (Nights)

Maintenance Engineer Job Purpose

To play a key role in keeping high-speed production running at peak performance by operating and maintaining advanced machinery, supporting technical processes, and driving continuous improvement. You will help ensure maximum efficiency, minimal downtime, and consistently high-quality output in a fast-paced, modern manufacturing environment where reliability, precision, and teamwork make the difference every shift.

Maintenance Engineer Key Accountabilities:

  • Operate production machinery in line with procedures and safety requirements.
  • Carry out quality control checks throughout the production process to ensure products meet company standards.
  • Support production activities to achieve output, efficiency, and performance targets.
  • Support maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and optimal performance.
  • Carry out basic technical cleaning and maintenance of equipment and Assist with repair and refurbishment of machinery components as required.
  • Support planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Maintain tools and ensure they are available and fit for operational use.
  • Promptly report faults, breakdowns, and maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
  • Ensure production and workshop areas are kept clean, tidy, and well maintained and adhere to housekeeping standards and HSE procedures at all times.
  • Maintain correct storage and organisation of tools and equipment and ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and operational standards.
  • Identify and report hazards, risks, and any non-compliance issues.
  • Contribute to productivity, efficiency, and process improvement initiatives and support continuous improvement activities across shifts.
  • Provide cover during holidays, absence, and training periods when required.

Maintenance Engineer Skills

  • Mechanical or electrical maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems (advantageous)
  • Basic IT and computer literacy and ability to read technical drawings, diagrams, and manuals
  • Understanding of production processes and workflows
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to analyse issues and solve technical problems
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively

Maintenance Engineer Benefits & Hours of work

Salary: £35k (DOE) per annum, plus over time £22.67 per hour, Hours: Average 40.25 hours per week, Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off – 6PM to 6AM, Days, Holiday: 23.5 days (including Bank Holidays) plus Birthday off, 4% employer pension contribution. Private medical insurance (after probation) & Life assurance (4x annual salary death in service benefit)
