Maintenance Technician

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join a technically advanced manufacturing environment in Congleton.
This is a hands-on position suited to a mechanically and electrically capable maintenance professional who can respond quickly to breakdowns, carry out preventative maintenance and help improve the reliability and performance of automated production equipment.
You'll be working with modern manufacturing technologies, with exposure to automation, robotics, PLC systems, data analytics and AI-driven monitoring.
What You'll Be Doing
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Carry out planned, preventative and corrective maintenance across production equipment.
- Perform safe Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and dynamic risk assessments.
- Investigate recurring equipment failures and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Record maintenance activities, faults and corrective actions accurately within the CMMS.
- Support predictive maintenance and condition-monitoring initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce recurring breakdowns.
- Produce technical One Point Lessons (OPLs) and share knowledge with colleagues.
- Support energy efficiency, sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work in accordance with Lean manufacturing, 7S and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles.
- Support production operations through shift cover, including occasional weekends, overtime and night working.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a practical and methodical Maintenance Technician who is confident diagnosing faults and working under pressure in a busy industrial or manufacturing environment.
You'll ideally have:
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
- Experience with preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Good understanding of electrical control systems, motors, sensors and industrial equipment.
- Experience using a CMMS or maintenance management system.
- Good PC literacy and technical documentation skills.
- PLC knowledge would be advantageous.
- Understanding of Lean, 7S and TPM principles.
- Strong health and safety awareness, including safe isolation/LOTO.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving equipment issues.
- Flexibility to work weekends, overtime and occasional nights when required.
