  • Mondays – 09:00 to 13:00
  • Wednesdays – 09:00 to 13:00
Hours: 8 hours per week
Contract: Temporary
Start Date: 19th July 2026

About the Role

Priority Recruitment are recruiting a proactive, engaging and motivated Male Support Worker to support a young man with an acquired brain injury within his family home and local community in Somersham, Cambridgeshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary therapy team, supporting the implementation of rehabilitation strategies designed to increase independence, confidence and overall quality of life.

Rather than providing traditional personal care, this role focuses on motivation, structure, community engagement and helping the client achieve meaningful SMART goals through consistent encouragement and positive support.

About the Client

FT is a 20-year-old male who sustained an acquired brain injury following a road traffic accident in 2022.

He lives at home with his mum and sister and is working towards increasing his independence through structured rehabilitation and therapy-led interventions.

The successful Support Worker will play an important role in helping FT establish positive routines, maintain motivation and continue progressing towards his rehabilitation goals.

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Prompting and supporting morning routines, including maintaining a consistent wake-up routine.
  • Supporting financial management using simple spreadsheets or apps.
  • Encouraging healthier lifestyle choices and supporting agreed vaping reduction strategies.
  • Reinforcing therapy-led cognitive and functional strategies.
  • Supporting attendance at the gym and community activities.
  • Providing positive social interaction and encouraging engagement.
  • Helping structure weekly routines and meaningful activities.
  • Building a trusting professional relationship through shared interests and positive communication.
  • Working closely with the Case Manager, therapy team and family.
  • Completing accurate care notes following each shift.
This role requires somebody who is reliable, motivated, organised and passionate about rehabilitation-focused support.

Requirements & Experience

Essential

  • Male Support Worker (Genuine Occupational Requirement – Equality Act 2010)
  • Previous experience supporting individuals with Acquired or Traumatic Brain Injury.
  • Experience implementing rehabilitation or therapy-led strategies.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Own vehicle.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Reliable, patient and empathetic approach.
  • Comfortable supporting within the client's home and community.
Desirable

  • Similar age to the client (approximately 20–30 years old) to support rapport building.
  • Interest in the gym and maintaining an active lifestyle.
  • Interest in cars or mechanics.
  • Interest in gardening or outdoor activities.
  • Previous experience working alongside Occupational Therapists, Neuropsychologists or wider MDTs.
Training Required

  • Brain Injury Awareness (Essential)
Additional mandatory training can be refreshed or provided for the right candidate where required.
