About the Role

A large, welcoming Specialist SEN School in Barking is seeking a dedicated Male Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team.
This rewarding role involves working closely with male students who have Autism and a range of learning difficulties, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.

(Please note: this position requires a male due to the intiimate care needs of male students.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to male students across Key Stages 3 & 4.

  • Assist in the delivery of personalized learning plans (EHCPs), adapting activities to suit individual sensory and learning needs.

  • Support students with personal care needs, ensuring their dignity and independence are maintained at all times.

  • Manage challenging behaviors calmly and effectively using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment that builds students' confidence and life skills.



What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young adults with SEN (Autism, ADHD, PMLD, or Severe Learning Difficulties) is highly desirable. Experience in care, sports coaching, or youth work is also well-regarded.

  • Resilience & Empathy: A patient, calm, and nurturing approach, with the ability to remain composed under pressure.

  • Commitment: Reliability is crucial for these students; we require someone dedicated to a full-time, long-term role.

  • Requirements: An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one) and two professional references.
