Axon Moore are delighted to be working with a rapidly growing business in Manchester city centre, to appoint a Management Accountant to the team. The business has grown consistently year on year and continues to scale rapidly. They are looking to build a finance team who will drive the business forward by delivering meaningful insight to help the wider business make better decisions and this role is a key part of that.

You'll report to the Head of Finance, taking ownership of the month-end process whilst helping to build reporting, controls and systems to gear up for the next period of growth. This role offers a genuine opportunity to grow into a future Finance Manager or Finance Business Partner position as the business continues to expand.

Salary & Benefits

£45-55k DOE, hybrid working 3 days in the office, early finish Fridays, central Manchester location, 2 weeks Christmas close down, Medicash, Pension, 24 days holiday plus banks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the month-end close process, preparing accurate monthly management accounts, journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and management reporting.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition, review COGS, manufacturing margins, inventory movements and project profitability to support reliable financial reporting.
  • Produce insightful financial analysis and reporting on business performance, revenue streams, sales, margins and operational trends to support decision-making.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Consultancy and Operations teams to improve financial visibility and provide commercial insight into projects and business performance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning through robust analysis and performance monitoring.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, daily cash reporting, supplier payment proposals and treasury activities while monitoring key working capital metrics.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including WIP and GRNI reconciliations, investigate stock variances and strengthen inventory controls and costing accuracy.
  • Lead finance compliance activities, including VAT returns, payroll support, year-end audit, statutory reporting and R&D tax claim preparation.
  • Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, systems, controls and reporting to support scalability and business growth.
  • Support, coach and develop junior finance team members while working closely with the Head of Finance to enhance financial understanding across the wider business.
 Essential Requirements
  • Nearly or fully qualified ACCA/CIMA
  • 3+ experience preparing monthly management accounts in an SME sized business
  • Experience working within a manufacturing or project-based environment.
  • Excellent Excel skills and use of Power BI would be beneficial.
  • Proactive, accountable and comfortable taking ownership from start to finish.
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical capability
  • building relationships with non-finance stakeholders.
  • Naturally curious with strong attention to detail.
