Your new role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant to join a well-established and growing organisation in South Wales. Following a sustained period of growth and investment, the business is looking to strengthen its finance team with a newly created position that offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence business performance.
This role will initially focus on delivering accurate management information, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting the month-end process. Over time, there will be opportunities to become more involved in commercial finance, operational partnering, and wider strategic projects as the organisation continues to develop.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting reports
- Balance sheet reconciliations and financial control activities
- Fixed asset accounting and register maintenance
- Cashflow forecasting and performance reporting
- WIP analysis and project performance reporting
- Variance analysis and budget monitoring
- Preparation of information for senior management reporting
- Working closely with transactional finance teams
- Supporting process improvement and finance transformation initiatives
- Developing strong relationships with stakeholders across operational teams
You will also play an active role in:
- Month-end close activities including accruals and prepayments
- Financial analysis and performance commentary
- Monitoring project profitability and cost performance
- Supporting business units with financial decision-making
- Continuous improvement of systems, processes, and reporting capabilities
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience accountant
- Previous experience within construction, engineering, projects, contracting, maintenance, or another project-driven environment
- Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience
- Experience producing meaningful financial analysis and commentary
- Knowledge of CIS and project-focused accounting principles
- Strong Excel skills and confidence analysing large volumes of financial data
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Experience of fixed assets, reconciliations, forecasting, and month-end processes
- SAP and/or Power BI exposure would be advantageous but not essential
