Ready for a role where you can make a real difference?

Môrwell Talent Solutions is delighted to be partnering with a highly successful and long-established business in Cardiff to recruit a Management Accountant / Part-Qualified Accountant.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a stable and profitable organisation at an important stage of its development. The business is going through a period of change, growth and evolution, with a number of opportunities to improve processes, strengthen the finance function and introduce more effective ways of working.

You'll work closely with an experienced Finance Director, gaining valuable exposure to the wider business and playing an increasingly important role in supporting commercial decision-making. There is genuine scope for the successful candidate to take ownership, introduce new ideas and develop their responsibilities as the business continues to evolve.

The role would suit someone who is ambitious, commercially minded and enjoys a varied position where no two days are necessarily the same.

The Role

This is a broad and hands-on finance role where you'll be involved across the finance function while working closely with senior management and operational teams.

As the business continues to develop, you'll have the opportunity to get involved in process improvement, systems development, financial reporting and wider finance projects, rather than simply maintaining the status quo.

Key responsibilities will include:

Producing timely and accurate monthly management accounts

Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations

Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting

Providing financial analysis and meaningful commentary to senior management

Business partnering with operational managers and helping them understand financial performance

Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting

Supporting the development and implementation of more efficient ways of working

Coaching and supporting a small finance team of four

Preparing VAT returns and ensuring financial compliance

Assisting with year-end accounts and external audits

Supporting changes to systems, processes and reporting as the business evolves

Taking ownership of ad-hoc projects and providing financial input into wider business decisions

About You

We're looking for an ambitious finance professional who wants more than a traditional month-end role. You'll enjoy working in an environment where things are changing, you're encouraged to suggest improvements and you can see the impact of your work across the wider business.

You'll ideally have:

Experience producing management accounts and supporting the month-end process

A strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations and reporting

Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with non-finance stakeholders

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

A proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements

Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail

The ability to manage competing priorities and work in a fast-paced, changing environment

Previous experience within an automotive/dealership environment would be advantageous but is not essential

Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA, or actively studying towards a professional qualification

We're particularly interested in people who are commercially curious, adaptable and keen to take on more responsibility as the role develops.

What's on Offer?

Salary of up to £45,000, depending on experience

Full ACCA/CIMA study support

Performance-related annual bonus of up to 10%

22 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service

35-hour working week, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm

Free onsite parking

Genuine opportunity to progress into a more senior finance position

Exposure to senior management and wider commercial decision-making

The opportunity to play a key role in improving and developing the finance function

A varied role within a business going through an exciting period of change

Supportive working environment with the opportunity to work closely with an experienced Finance Director

Long-term career development and succession opportunities
