Management Accountant – 6-Month Contract

Location: London (Hybrid – 2 days onsite, 3 days remote)
Rate: £300–£400 per day
Contract Length: 6 Months

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join a fast-paced SME business on an initial 6-month contract. This role will play a key part in supporting finance operations, delivering accurate and timely management information, and assisting with ongoing business change initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
• Lead month-end close processes, including accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Produce and analyse monthly financial reports, providing meaningful commentary on performance and variances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting activities.
• Partner with operational and non-finance stakeholders to provide financial insights and challenge performance where appropriate.
• Assist with business change and transformation projects, including process improvements and system enhancements.
• Ensure strong financial controls are maintained and continuously improved.
• Support audit requests and provide relevant financial information as required.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency and finance processes.
• Ad hoc financial analysis and project support as required by senior management.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Management Accountant within an SME or fast-paced environment.
• Strong month-end reporting and management accounting experience.
• Experience supporting business change, transformation, or process improvement initiatives.
• Previous experience within a Private Equity-backed business is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial information effectively.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using finance systems.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) preferred, although qualified by experience candidates will also be considered.
