About the Business

An exciting opportunity to join a well-established services business in Birmingham City Centre as a Management and Reporting Accountant. The role sits at the heart of the finance function, providing accurate reporting and commercial insight that helps shape decisions across the business.

Main Duties:

As a Management and Reporting Accountant, your main duties include:

  • Producing timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including supporting commentary and variance analysis
  • Leading a smooth and controlled month-end close, including journals, accruals, and prepayments
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Preparing departmental and group-level reporting packs for use by senior stakeholders
  • Supporting the budgeting and forecasting cycle, working closely with department heads
  • Contributing to cash flow forecasting and monitoring working capital
  • Providing clear, commercially-minded financial insight to support business decision-making
  • Assisting with the year-end process and acting as a point of contact for external auditors
  • Reviewing and strengthening internal controls, processes, and reporting systems
  • Building strong working relationships across the business, including with non-finance stakeholders

Location / Office / Culture

The role is hybrid, based in Birmingham City Centre, with just 1-2 days a week in the office. The team operates from a bright, modern office and the business genuinely supports flexible working around it. You’ll report into a supportive Finance Manager/Financial Controller within a small, close-knit team, with a manager known for developing their people well.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
  • Demonstrable experience producing management accounts and month-end reporting
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
  • A commercial mindset, with the ability to translate numbers into meaningful insight
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence liaising with non-finance stakeholders
