Manual Machinist

Are you an experienced Manual Machinist looking to join a well-established engineering company in Ely. We are recruiting for a skilled individual to join a busy workshop, producing high-quality precision-engineered components.

Pay: £13.50 per hour
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am – 5:00pm | Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines.
• Manufacture precision-engineered components from engineering drawings.
• Inspect and measure finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Select the appropriate tooling and materials for each job.
• Carry out routine machine adjustments and basic machine maintenance.
• Deburr and finish machined components to a high standard.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
• Report faults, defects, or quality concerns promptly.
• Support continuous improvement within the workshop.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Manual Machinist.
• Strong knowledge of manual lathes and milling machines.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Competent using measuring equipment, including verniers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Good understanding of health and safety within an engineering workshop.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop.
