Manual Machinist

Express Recruitment is currently working alongside a leading precision manufacturer in Nottingham who provide high-end engineered products to household firms on a global scale.  

Due to continued growth and consistent order book, our client is seeking a Manual Machinist their machine shop department. The successful candidate will possess hands on proficiencies across a wide range of manual milling, turning and grinding machines. 

In return, the successful candidate will receive a starting salary of up to c£33,500, with the opportunity to earn up to a further £4056 in pay rises after completion of probationary period. Skills & Experience

• Apprenticeship in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer or time served experience  

• Demonstratable experience operating manual machinery, including lathes, manual millers/turning machines and surface grinders  

• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings without supervision 

• Willingness to learn, including taking interest in being trained up on CNC lathes  

• Excellent knowledge of health and safety regulations 

Roles & Responsibilities

• Operate manual lathe & block milling Bridgeport machines 

• Operate manual turning machines and surface grinders  

• Work closely with the Mechanical Fitters to ensure machine parts are in adherence with Engineering drawings/schematics specifications 

• Operate calibration equipment to perform inspects on machined parts, reporting quality defect and tolerance issues to the Workshop Manager  

• Train up on Fanuc based CNC lathes (when the opportunity arises) 

• Work with a wide range of materials, including sheet metal, aluminium, plastic and steel  

• Adhere to strict on-site Health and Safety regulations
