The Opportunity

Fantastic opportunity to take ownership of manufacturing engineering processes and equipment, making improvements to production whilst developing new skills and techniques.

An opportunity has arisen on the development / production manufacturing lines for a support engineer who will be responsible for translating design requirements into user instructions, including the development of the project manufacturing architecture. You will coordinate day-to-day support to operations staff within the manufacturing facility.

This role also offers scope to grow your knowledge within manufacturing as part of future development opportunities, Industrial Validation, manufacturing architecture, and factory-of-the-future principles are among the stretch objectives available for growth.

Working with the Principal Engineer, you'll support multiple projects, responsible for manufacturing problem identification and resolution:

  • Support existing manufacturing lines and new product introduction
  • Support the industrial validation process through the use of FMEAs, process proving activities, etc.
  • Manage configuration control by embodying design modifications into manufacturing documentation and industrial validation
  • Support the non-conformance process
  • Ensure products are produced with consideration to safety, efficiency, and economic factors
  • Take responsibility for safe operating implementation of changed processes, including liaising with COSHH assessors, SHE, and human factors
  • Liaise with the design authority during the product prototype/development phase to ensure optimised Design for Manufacture (DfM)
  • Compile and update Manufacturing Instructions, maintaining production BOMs
  • Develop and control tooling

What We're Looking For

  • Formal technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3, plus a formal further education certificate to Level 4 (HNC) or equivalent in a relevant subject OR
  • A degree in a relevant subject

Plus:

  • A proactive approach to problem solving and commitment to meeting delivery milestones
  • Ability to interpret design drawings with a view to producing Manufacturing Build Instructions
  • Ability to work within and contribute to a team environment
  • Awareness of digital communication platforms to work and communicate effectively within the workplace
