A well-established precision engineering manufacturer is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in developing and improving manufacturing processes for complex engineered products within a collaborative and technically advanced environment.
Manufacturing Engineer - The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, you will be responsible for developing, validating and improving manufacturing processes that support both new and existing products throughout their lifecycle. Working closely with Design, Production, Quality and Projects teams, you will help ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Manufacturing Engineer - Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise manufacturing processes, methods and workflows.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from concept through to production.
- Work closely with Design Engineers to improve manufacturability, assembly and test (DfM/DfA).
- Design and specify tooling, fixtures, jigs and assembly aids.
- Conduct manufacturing feasibility studies, PFMEAs and risk assessments.
- Lead manufacturing trials, pilot builds and production validation activities.
- Analyse production performance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Support Lean manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Kaizen and error-proofing.
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, SOPs and work instructions.
Manufacturing Engineer - About You
We're looking for an engineer with experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment who enjoys solving problems and driving continuous improvement.
You'll ideally have:
- A degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering.
- Experience developing manufacturing processes within a production environment.
- Knowledge of tooling, fixtures and manufacturing methods.
- Experience supporting NPI or industrialisation projects.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software.
