Manufacturing Engineer
Verso Recruitment Group
A UK manufacturer of high-reliability electronic assemblies is adding a Manufacturing Engineer to its team. Complex builds, small batch quantities, zero tolerance for field failure.
Day-to-day you will be
- Owning the build documentation. Routings, work instructions, method sheets, all of it current and all of it followed
- Specifying and commissioning shop floor equipment, fixtures and jigs, press fit tooling included
- Sitting in on design reviews and steering new products from prototype through to steady state build
- Running the investigation when something fails on the line, finding the actual cause, closing it out for good
- Picking off waste and variation through lean and OpEx projects
- Bringing on the technicians around you
- A background as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer on the shop floor, in electronics or electro-mechanical build
- Practical assembly knowledge: sheet metal, PCB integration, fasteners, thermal interface materials
- Working to IPC-A-610 Class 3 and J-STD-001, and able to solder to those standards yourself
- Tooling design experience, particularly press fit
- Comfortable in an ERP or MRP environment. SAP is the system here
- A structured approach to fault finding and corrective action
- Degree in an engineering subject, or HNC/HND, or time served with the results to back it up
Site-based with early finish on Fridays.
