Contract: 2 Years FTC – Full time
Shifts: 12-hour continental shift pattern: 2 x Day Shifts (6:00am – 6:00pm), 2 x Night Shifts (6:00pm – 6:00am) Followed by 6 days off

We're looking for a Level 2 Manufacturing Operator to join our team on a 2-year fixed-term contract.

As a Manufacturing Operator, you will play a vital role in operating and monitoring the paper manufacturing process, ensuring efficiency, quality, environmental compliance, and the highest health and safety standards.

Working closely with the Shift Manager, Level 1 Operators, and Maintenance teams, you'll help drive operational excellence while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

As our Manufacturing Operative you will:

  • Promote and maintain high Health & Safety standards, conducting audits, supporting risk assessments, permit-to-work activities, isolations, and continuous H&S improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental procedures, identifying and reporting any potential environmental risks.
  • Carry out quality inspections, monitor product standards, support ECO compliance, and escalate quality concerns when required.
  • Operate the paper manufacturing process safely and efficiently, responding to alarms and resolving operational issues.
  • Support plant start-ups, shutdowns, maintenance activities, and preventative maintenance routines.
  • Conduct plant inspections, identify equipment issues, and assist with fault finding and problem solving.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards across the production area.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency projects.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and complete all required training.
  • Support the Shift Manager and Level 1 Operators, stepping into Level 1 duties when appropriately trained and authorised.
  • Assist in reviewing and improving standard operating procedures while ensuring all mandatory training requirements are met.

Working Environment

This is a manufacturing role and conditions may include:

  • Hot, dusty, wet, and noisy environments
  • Working at height
  • Working in confined spaces
  • Industrial production plant settings

Appropriate training, PPE, and safety procedures will be provided.

What We're Looking For

Experience

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Experience in general manufacturing operations is desirable
  • NVQ in Paper Manufacturing or equivalent relevant qualification preferred
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a shift team
  • Focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence

Overtime Rates:

  • Week Days: 1.5 x hourly rate
  • Weekend: 2 x hourly rate
  • Bank Holiday*: 2 x hourly rate
  • Special Holiday**: 3 x hourly rate
  • *inc. New Years Eve Day shift
  • **Christmas Day, New Years Eve Night shift only
