Role Overview

As a Manufacturing Team Leader, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for coordinating people, resources, and production activities within designated work centres to achieve quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives.

Working closely with the Operations Process Management team, you will lead and develop a team of operators, ensuring workloads are balanced, skills are aligned to operational requirements, and performance expectations are consistently achieved. You will champion a culture of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Health & Safety, driving operational excellence while supporting employee development and engagement.

The successful candidate will be a strong people leader with experience in a manufacturing environment, capable of motivating teams, solving operational challenges, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and performance. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to business success through effective team management, continuous improvement initiatives, and the delivery of operational targets.

Key Responsibilities

-Work with the Operations Process Management team to coordinate workload and resources across shifts to meet operational requirements.
- Ensure operational expectations are aligned with team capabilities, identifying skills gaps and addressing them through training and problem-solving initiatives.
- Manage dedicated work centres to ensure resources, productivity, quality, and delivery targets are achieved.
- Drive a Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement culture, supporting business objectives focused on cost competitiveness and operational excellence.
- Support the ongoing development of team members, identifying training and development needs to ensure skills remain aligned to operational requirements.
- Support ownership and delivery of weekly operational plans and production goals.
- Organise and oversee the training of new operators, ensuring experienced team members coach and mentor individuals until required quality and productivity standards are achieved.
- Promote Health & Safety within the area of responsibility and ensure risk assessments and ergonomic assessments remain current and effective.
- Monitor team performance and escalate any issues, risks, or deviations that could impact efficiency, quality, delivery, or safety.
- Encourage innovation and challenge existing ways of working to improve processes

Desirable Skills:
- Experience within composites or aerospace manufacturing.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement qualifications.
- Supervisory or leadership training/qualification.
- Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems and production reporting tools.
- Understanding of performance management and team development.
