Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Marble Restoration Technician to work on an ongoing refurbishment project at a prestigious 282-bedroom hotel in Canary Wharf.
The work will involve restoring marble basin surrounds and bathroom worktops that have become worn, scratched, stained and dull.
Duties will include grinding, honing, polishing, stain treatment, deep-scratch reduction, minor chip and crack repairs, sealing and finishing the marble to a high standard.
The hotel will release rooms individually to minimise disruption to guests, so the successful contractor must be able to work efficiently within agreed access times and room-availability deadlines.
This is expected to be an ongoing project lasting several months, with the potential for further work across other four- and five-star hotels in London.
The contractor must provide their own specialist tools, polishing machinery and standard consumables.
Work will initially be carried out at weekends, with possible additional shifts depending on room availability.
Payment will be made weekly through an approved CIS payment provider.
Skills Needed:
- Professional experience polishing and restoring marble and natural stone
- Experience restoring marble worktops, vanity units and basin surrounds
- Skilled in grinding, honing, polishing and sealing marble surfaces
- Experience removing or reducing stains, etching, water marks and discolouration
- Experience removing or reducing deep scratches and surface damage
- Ability to complete minor chip, crack and edge repairs
- Confident using hand polishers, diamond pads and specialist stone-restoration machinery
- Able to assess the condition of marble and select the correct restoration method
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce a high-end finish
- Experience working in luxury hotels, residential properties or other finished environments is desirable
- Able to work independently and complete rooms within agreed deadlines
- Professional, reliable and presentable
- Able to minimise dust, noise, water, slurry and disruption
- Must provide own specialist equipment, tools, PPE and standard consumables
- Valid UTR and eligible to work on a self-employed CIS basis
- Right to work in the UK Suitable public liability insurance
- Risk assessments, method statements and COSHH information may be required
- Photographs or references from previous marble-restoration projects would be advantageous
