Marine Project Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Marine and Tunnels Section.
What will you do?
- Accountable for successful project delivery via Subcontractor management for the offshore elements of various work packages;
- Determines the most appropriate means of achieving customer / project requirements, objectives and constraints: time, cost, quality, scope, risk, benefits;
- Provides management, leadership and control of a multi-disciplinary team comprising Agents, Sub-Agents, Section Engineers and Site Engineers;
- Works closely with the Preconstruction Lead, Offshore Construction Manager and Onshore Project Management team to ensure safe and efficient delivery of the offshore works at Sizewell C.
What are we looking for?
Essential
- Strong working knowledge of NEC and other standard forms of contract relevant to the marine / offshore sector;
- Proven ability to manage and control offshore / marine construction activities, including identification of technical requirements and application of industry standard techniques;
- Capable of reviewing, approving and implementing construction programmes and resource-loaded schedules;
- Demonstrable experience in developing, reviewing and approving Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) for marine operations;
- Sound understanding of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) and their application to offshore work sites;
- Proficient in the use and interpretation of performance metrics, productivity tracking and evaluation tools;

- Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills. Able to present technical and commercial information effectively;
- Leadership and team management capability, with experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors in dynamic, high-risk environments;
- Demonstrable ability to make sound, independent judgements and lead decision making under pressure;
- Proven track record of successful project delivery, ideally in a complex marine or offshore construction environment;
- Commercially aware and experienced in project financial control, cost forecasting and subcontractor management;
- Skilled in issue resolution and stakeholder engagement with a collaborative and solution-focused approach;
- Minimum 3-5 years of direct experience managing offshore or marine construction projects with responsibility for delivery, safety and quality.
Desirable
- Familiarity with Development Consent Order (DCO) and Marine Management Organisation (MMO) licensing processes and post-consent compliance;
- Understanding of pre-construction planning processes, including site investigation, consenting and constructability review;
- Professional accreditation (e.g. CEng, MICE, MAPM) or actively working towards such accreditation;
- 5-10 years’ experience in managing complex offshore / marine construction projects, ideally in a client-facing or Tier 1 contractor environment;
- Valid UK driving licence.
Qualifications & Certifications
The role holder is expected to have one or more of the following:
- Degree-level qualification (e.g. BSc/MSc/Meng/Beng) in Construction, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience;
- Project management certification such as APM PFQ / PMQ / PPQ / PRINCE2 or equivalent;
- CSCS card and SMSTS (or equivalent HSE site management training);
- Sea Survival certification and offshore / sea going medica, or willingness to obtain as part of onboarding (e.g. STCW, BOSIET, GWO or equivalent).
