Kempston Hardwick · Permanent
This superb international business has a portfolio of specialist brands and customers across the UK, Europe and beyond. There’s plenty happening across the group, from product launches to customer events, and they’ve engaged us exclusively to support their search for an experienced marketer who can bring it all together through clear messaging, strong campaigns and consistent communications.
They already have a strong digital team in place. What they need now is someone whose strengths complement that expertise: a rounded marketing and communications professional who can shape a story, build a brand and give sales teams something worth talking about.
The Role – Marketing Communications Manager
Working closely with the senior marketing lead, you’ll help shape and deliver the group’s marketing plans, balancing the bigger picture with the practical work that makes things happen. You’ll lead and develop people, work closely with commercial colleagues and keep activity focused on the customers and markets that matter.
Your remit will span brand, content, PR, campaigns, product communications and events. You’ll need to understand digital marketing and how the channels fit together, but you’ll have capable specialists alongside you. Your contribution will be the ideas, messaging and marketing judgement that help the whole team deliver more.
Key Responsibilities – Marketing Communications Manager
- Develop integrated marketing plans that support brand development, customer engagement and commercial growth.
- Lead and develop the marketing team, setting clear priorities and encouraging collaboration.
- Shape messaging and oversee content and communications across campaigns, sales materials, PR, events and digital channels.
- Work with sales, product and international colleagues to support launches and bring products and propositions to life.
- Partner with the digital team to connect activity across channels and improve the customer journey.
- Support customer events and industry exhibitions, including occasional overseas travel.
- Manage budgets and measure results, using insight to sharpen future activity.
- Identify practical ways to improve how the team works, including useful applications of AI and marketing technology.
About You – Marketing Communications Manager
You’re an experienced marketing generalist with a strong communications toolkit and the confidence to lead others. You can turn a complicated brief into a clear message, give a campaign direction and get stuck into delivery when needed. You’ll be comfortable discussing commercial priorities with sales colleagues and translating them into marketing that earns its place.
Your strengths could lie in brand, content, PR, product marketing or broader marketing communications. You’ll understand digital channels, CRM and customer data well enough to work effectively with specialists, while bringing complementary expertise to the team. Experience supporting international markets would be valuable, alongside sound organisation, good judgement and the ability to keep several projects moving.
A marketing degree or CIM qualification would be advantageous. More important is evidence that you can develop people, deliver effective marketing and build productive relationships across a business.
The role offers hybrid working, with Monday to Wednesday in the Bedfordshire office and Thursday and Friday from home. The office is accessible from locations including Bedford, Milton Keynes, Ampthill, Kempston, Sandy and Biggleswade. A full UK driving licence is required for occasional travel to events.
