Materials Controller - Goods In & Stores

Location: West of Scotland Science Park
Hours: 40 hours per week
Pay: £12.98-£14.90 per hour, DOE



The Role

A manufacturing business based at the West of Scotland Science Park is seeking a Materials Controller to support its Goods In and Stores operation.

The primary responsibility of the role is to ensure incoming materials are received, checked against purchase orders, booked into the relevant system and stored correctly.

The role would suit an individual with experience in Goods In, Stores, Warehouse, or Manufacturing. Experience with Cardex or automated storage equipment would be advantageous, although this is not essential.



Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process incoming goods.
  • Check deliveries against purchase orders to confirm the correct items and quantities have been received.
  • Check goods for damage, discrepancies or missing items and report any issues.
  • Verify that all expected items are present before completing the goods-in process.
  • Accurately book incoming goods using the Cardex system.
  • Record and maintain accurate delivery and goods-receiving information.
  • Label and identify materials correctly.
  • Allocate and store materials in the appropriate locations.
  • Maintain accurate physical and system stock records.
  • Move materials between Goods In, Stores and production areas as required.
  • Ensure materials are stored securely and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain an organised and tidy Goods In and Stores environment.
  • Complete stock checks and assist with resolving stock discrepancies where required.
  • Follow all Health & Safety, quality and operational procedures.
  • Liaise with Purchasing, Production and other internal departments regarding deliveries, materials and stock queries.


About You

The successful candidate will be organised, methodical and accurate, with the ability to work to established processes and manage incoming deliveries effectively.

Previous experience within Goods In, Stores, Warehouse or Manufacturing would be beneficial.



Essential

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good computer skills and confidence using computerised systems.
  • Ability to check deliveries and documentation against purchase orders.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and follow established procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Reliable approach to attendance and workload.


Desirable - Not Essential

  • Previous Goods In or Stores experience
  • Experience using Cardex systems.
  • Experience booking goods into an ERP, WMS or stock-control system.
  • Experience with stock control or inventory management.
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating automated storage or vertical lift machines.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems.

Cardex and automated storage/vertical lift machine experience is preferred but not essential. Training will be provided where required.



The Role in Summary

This is a hands-on Goods In and Stores position focused on the accurate receipt, checking, system booking and storage of incoming materials.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that deliveries are correctly processed and that materials are available and accurately recorded within the stores operation.
