Jackson Hogg Supply Chain division are pleased to be partnering with a growing manufacturing organisation in Ashington on the appointment of a Materials and Production Planner to join their Supply Chain team. 

This is a full-time and permanent role offering a salary of £37,500 per annum and will be based on site. 

You will develop and improve planning processes and organize production according to demand and quality standards our goods are produced on time for distribution.

This is a stand-alone planning role, meaning you must be well-versed in production procedures and ways to optimize them, taking full responsibility for your plan. You need to have excellent organisational skills and be results-driven together with great problem-solving ability. 

The Role:

  • Responsibility for planning and scheduling goods and materials ensuring there is a steady supply of materials to meet production needs.
  • Create production plans prioritise production demand and liaise with key departments.
  • Assess stock levels, ensure production needs are met, maintain agreed stock levels and reserve raw materials for shop orders.
  • Manage production capacity and identify any constraints.
  • Communicate daily any issues that may affect the production schedule.
  • Generate timely stock figures.
  • Calculate lead times for customer orders.
  • Create customer orders.
  • Assist in ensuring availability of plant and materials to maintain OTIF performance.
  • Accurate input of production information in IFS.
  • Determine labour, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand.
  • Obtain output information (number of finished products, percentage of defectives etc.)
  • Prepare and submit status and performance reports as required
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify vulnerabilities and close operational gaps
  • You'll be working with the Buyer to ensure raw materials and components are available at the right time and in the right quantities to achieve production continuity

The Person/Requirements:

  • 2 years + experience in a similar role with knowledge of end-to-end process
  • Excellent knowledge of production planning, purchasing and quality control principles
  • Experience in MRP
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems
  • Ability to show initiative in solving problems and identifying improvements
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically
  • Knowledge of IFS system advantageous but not essential
