Are you an experienced Materials Planner, Material Controller or Supply Chain professional looking for your next challenge?
We are supporting a well-established and growing manufacturing business in the recruitment of a Material Controller to join their team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a key role within the supply chain function, responsible for ensuring materials and components are available to meet production schedules and customer demand.
The successful candidate will have previous experience managing material supply within a manufacturing environment, working closely with suppliers, production teams and internal stakeholders to maintain stock availability, optimise inventory levels and minimise supply chain disruption.
The Materials Planner will be responsible for:
- Schedule and manage materials and components to support manufacturing requirements and customer orders
- Generate, place and manage purchase orders with suppliers
- Expedite materials and maintain supplier delivery performance
- Use MRP/ERP systems to analyse demand, inventory levels and material requirements
- Manage supplier lead times and proactively address potential shortages
- Monitor stock levels and inventory performance, ensuring appropriate stock holding and material availability
- Identify and resolve supply chain risks that could impact production schedules
- Work closely with Production, Procurement, Planning and Logistics teams to support operational performance
- Analyse data and produce reports to support planning and decision-making activities
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain function
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a Material Controller, Materials Planner, Production Planner, Supply Chain Planner, Inventory Planner or similar role within manufacturing
- Strong understanding of MRP, ERP and material planning processes
- Experience managing supplier relationships, purchase orders and delivery schedules
- Proven ability to balance material availability with inventory control objectives
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple departments
- Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment
This role would particularly suit candidates currently working as a Materials Planner, Material Controller, Production Planner, Supply Chain Planner, Inventory Planner, Supply Chain Coordinator or MRP Planner.
