Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and experienced Maths & English Tutor to provide 1:1 support to students in Sidcup. The students are currently out of mainstream education, including those awaiting school placements, receiving alternative provision, or accessing EOTAS packages.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work with young people who may have experienced disruption to their education and require tailored academic support to help them re-engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and personalised Maths and English tuition tailored to the student's age, ability, and learning needs.
- Support students who are currently out of school and may have gaps in their education.
- Identify learning needs and create structured lesson plans to accelerate progress.
- Develop confidence and competence in core Maths and English skills.
- Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit individual learning styles and needs.
- Foster positive attitudes towards learning and encourage student engagement.
- Monitor, record, and report on student progress and outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents/carers, schools, and local authorities where required.
Requirements:
- Experience teaching or tutoring Maths and English.
- Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
- Experience working with children and young people who may be disengaged from education.
- Ability to build rapport and motivate learners with a range of needs and abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a relevant teaching qualification.
- Experience delivering EOTAS, alternative provision, or home tuition.
- Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH needs, anxiety, or behavioural challenges.
- Experience preparing students for SATs, GCSEs, or Functional Skills qualifications.
- Degree in Mathematics, English, Education, or a related subject.
- Previous experience delivering 1:1 tuition in community or home settings.
