Teacher of Maths (SEND) – Full Time – Haywards Heath, West Sussex

Salary: Up to UPS3 (dependent on experience) + SEN Allowance of £2,787 per annum
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, Term Time Only

An outstanding independent residential special school in West Sussex is seeking to appoint a qualified Teacher of Maths to join its dedicated education team from September 2026.

The successful candidate will teach Maths across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that inspire and support young people with a range of additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to begin or develop their career in a highly supportive specialist setting.

Previous experience working in a SEND environment is not essential. Full training and ongoing professional development will be provided, alongside a well-established ECT programme for those at the start of their teaching career.

About the Role

The school provides education for children and young people aged 9–18 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Pupils have a range of needs including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Dyslexia
  • Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
  • Cognitive and processing needs

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, resilient and committed to making a positive difference to the lives and futures of young people. They will work closely with an established Maths department and be flexible in their teaching approach to meet individual learning needs while delivering the National Curriculum and a range of qualifications.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • A recognised qualification to teach Maths
  • A passion for helping young people achieve their potential
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • A positive, collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team
  • An interest in SEND, with a willingness to learn and develop specialist skills
