We are currently seeking a highly motivated Maths Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Greenwich on an ASAP start.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mathematics graduate looking to gain valuable secondary-school experience, particularly for candidates considering a future career in teaching.
The Role The successful candidate will work closely with the Mathematics department, supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, assist pupils with their mathematical understanding and help them develop confidence and independence in the subject.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting students in Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- Providing one-to-one and small-group intervention and support.
- Helping students understand mathematical concepts and solve problems.
- Supporting pupils who require additional assistance with their learning.
- Working alongside Maths teachers to reinforce classroom learning.
- Helping to monitor student progress and engagement.
- Encouraging positive attitudes towards Mathematics and learning.
- Assisting with classroom resources and lesson activities.
- Supporting the school's behaviour and safeguarding expectations.
- Developing positive and professional relationships with students and staff.
- A degree in Mathematics or a closely related Mathematics-based subject is essential.
- Strong academic background in Mathematics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine interest in supporting young people and education.
- Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and patiently.
- Professional, reliable and enthusiastic approach.
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
