We are delighted to be recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed Maths Tutor to join our Futures provision, supporting learners aged 19–25 as they make the important transition from education into adult life.

The role
A Maths Tutor who believes maths is an essential life skill and can inspire learners to see its value in everyday life.
We are seeking a creative tutor to work with small groups of up to eight learners, delivering engaging and personalised learning experiences that reflect individual needs, abilities and goals.
This is an exciting opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom. You will be encouraged to use practical, real-world activities and community-based learning opportunities, such as visits to cafés, shops and other local venues, helping learners develop confidence in applying maths skills in everyday situations.
Alongside delivering engaging maths sessions, you will monitor and record learner progress in line with RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement), ensuring that learners’ achievements and development are accurately captured.
A day in the life of a Maths Tutor would include:
- Providing guidance and support to learners as they develop the skills they need for adult life.
- Encouraging learners to develop effective communication and social interaction skills, including appropriate behaviour and confidence in public settings.
- Promoting independence in all areas of learning and everyday life, including preparing for interviews, using public transport and engaging within the wider community.
- Supporting the development of learners’ confidence, resilience and motivation enabling them to make informed decisions with support about their future
- Assisting with completion of all necessary evaluations, reports and documentation as required.
- Seeking partnerships with adult social services and external professionals to support the successful transition of learners from education to adulthood

Hours of Work
This role is based on a 40-hour working week across 41 weeks per year. Typical working hours are:
- Monday: 8:30am to 5:00pm
- Tuesday: 8:30am to 5:30pm
- Wednesday: 8:30am to 4:00pm
- Thursday: 8:30am to 4:00pm
- Friday: 8:30am to 4:00pm
As part of our commitment to supporting learners, we deliver a number of evening sessions throughout the year. The successful candidate will be expected to support at some of these sessions, with advance notice provided.
Our ideal candidate
- Will have at least one year’s experience in teaching within an educational setting.
- Have experience delivering Mathematics from Entry level 1 through to Level 2 Functional Skills and GCSE Maths.
- Have a proven track record of supporting learners to achieve positive outcomes, particularly those who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), have SEND, or have previously struggled in a mainstream educational settings.
- Be confident in adapting your teaching approach to meet individual learning needs.
- Evidence successful learner achievements and demonstrate adapted teaching approaches to enable learners to progress and achieve their goals.
