Hales Group are recruiting for a leading vehicle repair and fleet solutions business, delivering high-quality repair, maintenance and accident management services to commercial and private vehicle customers. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Light Commercial Vehicle Mechanic to join their skilled workshop team.
The Role
As a Light Commercial Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing and repairing a wide range of light commercial vehicles (LCVs), ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency. You will play a key role in keeping customer fleets and vehicles operational while supporting the wider workshop team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing and maintenance on light commercial vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
- Complete repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension and steering components.
- Conduct vehicle inspections and identify defects or additional repair requirements.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Remove, replace and repair mechanical components in line with manufacturer specifications.
- Undertake vehicle health checks and prepare reports on findings.
- Ensure all work is completed within agreed timescales while maintaining quality standards.
- Accurately complete job cards, service records and workshop documentation.
- Follow health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and organised workspace.
- Support colleagues and work collaboratively to deliver exceptional service to customers.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Mechanic, LCV Technician or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
- Experience working on a variety of light commercial vehicles, including vans and fleet vehicles.
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good organisational and time management abilities.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
- Relevant manufacturer training would be advantageous.
- MOT Tester qualification desirable but not essential.
- Hybrid and Electric Vehicle qualifications desirable.
