Mechanical Assembly Fitter

We have an exciting opportunity for a  Mechanical Assembly Fitter based in Bedford for one of our clients on a Full time permanent basis. 

Summary of the Mechanical Assembly Fitter role 

Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 
Location: Bedford 
Type of Contract: Permanent 
Hours: 37.5 hours Monday - Thursday 8.15am-4.45pm and Friday 8.15am-1.45pm 

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Assembly Fitter  

• Assemble various mechanical and electrical components working from engineering drawings.
• Carry out stripping/preparation/termination of various diameters of electrical cable and continuity testing.
• Record and complete dimensional and quality/test check paperwork.
• Operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks.
• Loading/unloading of vehicles as required. 

Requirements for a successful Mechanical Assembly Fitter  

• Several years of experience working in a similar mechanical fitting/assembly environment.
• Experience working in a medium to heavy mechanical engineering operation.
• Experience in completion of manufacturing and check list paperwork. 
• Working to production deadlines and assigned operation hours.
• Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
• A keen eye for detail with the ability to think on your feet to resolve issues as they arise.
• Qualified overhead crane user and qualified forklift user.
