About the RoleWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Assembly Fitter to join a leading manufacturer of pumps used within the land drainage, flood defence and sewage industries.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be part of a skilled workshop team responsible for the assembly and testing of high-quality pump systems, ensuring customer delivery requirements are met. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong mechanical background who enjoys working in a hands-on engineering environment and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble mechanical and electrical components from engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and work instructions to produce completed pump assemblies.

  • Carry out stripping, preparation, termination and continuity testing of electrical cables.

  • Perform mechanical fitting and assembly operations using hand, power and pneumatic tools.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, checklists and visual work instructions.

  • Complete dimensional checks, quality inspections and associated production documentation accurately.

  • Operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks to move large and heavy components safely around the workshop.

  • Load and unload vehicles as required.

  • Work to production schedules and delivery deadlines.

  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.

  • Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Welfare procedures.

  • Support continuous improvement activities and other operational projects as required.

About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:

Experience & Qualifications
  • Several years' experience in a Mechanical Fitter, Assembly Fitter or similar engineering role.

  • Experience within a medium to heavy engineering or manufacturing environment.

  • Proven ability to work to production schedules and deadlines.

  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

  • Experience completing manufacturing, inspection and quality documentation.

  • Good standard of education.

  • Overhead Crane licence/certification desirable (training can be provided).

  • Forklift Truck licence/certification desirable (training can be provided).

  • Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
