Mechanical Engineer / Multi-Skilled Engineer (Mechanical Bias)

Salary: £43,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts | 2 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer with a Mechanical Bias to join an established engineering team supporting a critical and technically complex environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a highly experienced team, including a long-serving Electrical Engineer with extensive site knowledge, providing planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of building services systems.

The Role

As a Mechanical Bias Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault finding, and repairs across a range of mechanical and building services equipment.

Working as part of a close-knit engineering team, you will help ensure that all systems and facilities remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose faults and undertake repairs on mechanical and associated building services systems.
  • Maintain and repair pumps, motors, valves, AHUs, FCUs, HVAC systems, pipework, and associated plant.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and maintenance requests.
  • Update maintenance records and CAFM systems accurately.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and site stakeholders.
  • Assist with minor electrical and general building services maintenance where required.

About You

We are looking for a mechanically qualified engineer with experience working within commercial buildings, healthcare environments, critical facilities, manufacturing plants, or other complex facilities management environments.

You will have strong fault-finding skills, a proactive approach to maintenance, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing & Heating, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in a Mechanical Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer role.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
  • Experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Understanding of health & safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Experience working within facilities management or building services environments.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Healthcare, hospital, critical environment, or pharmaceutical experience.
  • HVAC qualifications.
  • City & Guilds F-Gas certification.
  • BMS exposure and understanding.
  • Water hygiene or L8 awareness.
  • IOSH Working Safely qualification.
  • Plumbing and pipefitting experience.
  • Basic electrical maintenance knowledge.
