Trostre Steelworks may be looking for you! Tata Steel Trostre are responsible for producing 400,000 tonnes of tin, chrome and ‘polymer’ coated steels for the packaging industries annually. 

The successful applicant will ideally hold a time served Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship and have experience within a Heavy Industrial environment. However, applicants with substantial experience will be considered

In this role, you would be responsible for conducting preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs to a busy department. You would play a vital role in ensuring manufacturing operations are smooth and productive. 

 

Role: Mechanical Craft Team Member 

Location: Tata Steel, Trostre, Maes-Ar-Ddafen Road, Llanelli SA14 9SD

Salary: £34,609.30 (this includes a 10% shift allowance)

Start: ASAP but pending the successful result of a medical assessment. (This does include a drug and alcohol test)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting and installing

  • Diagnosing and rectifying faults 

  • Completing works to internal standards within an effective timeframe to minimise downtime

  • Providing reporting on breakdowns, repairs and related engineering activity 

  • Providing Engineering expertise to stakeholders in order to solve complex issues

  • Recommending improvements and upgrades to equipment and/or systems 

  • Maintaining an up to date knowledge in m maintenance technique, including attending necessary development courses 

  • Being active cover for shift specialists as required

  • Supervising Tata or contract personnel as needed

  • issuing certificates of isolation as part of the safe system of work

  • Adhering to the strongest levels of UK Health and Safety legislation at all times 

  • Responsibility for COMAH related activity for the Mechanical Day Craft Maintenance activity 

  • Identifying areas for improvement and playing an active part in continuous improvement initiatives 

Essential requirements:

  • Time served apprenticeship and NVQ3 (Mechanical Engineering)

  • Previous experience (2+ years) within a Heavy Industrial environment

  • The ability to conduct a physically demanding role, with no concerns around working with grease, scale and dust on a daily basis 

  • UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle 

  • Ability to be fully flexible and adhere to the shift pattern

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation

Desirable requirements:

  • FLT experience (up to 2 tonnes)

  • Overhead crane experience (up to 10 tonnes)
