Mechanical Day Shift Engineer

Location: Glasgow, G5 8DP

Salary: £41,200 + £3,000 uplift upon qualification and appointment as an Authorised Person

Hours of work: 40

Contract Type: Permanent

Our client, ISS, is seeking a Mechanical Day Shift Engineer to support a high-profile banking client across a Glasgow campus, delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive engineering services.

This role is key in maintaining a safe, efficient, and reliable environment across critical plant and systems.

Job Description

Working in close partnership with the on-site facilities team, you will help deliver a best-in-class workplace experience.

You will ensure compliance with engineering standards, health & safety regulations, and quality assurance procedures, while contributing positively to team culture and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out PPM in line with set schedules to maximise operational effectiveness and plant reliability
  • Respond promptly and effectively to all reactive maintenance and helpdesk requests
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with HASAWA and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
  • Maintain accurate records and update documentation in line with on-site QA procedures
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on mechanical systems and associated plant
  • Coordinate and manage specialist subcontractors attending site for PPM or reactive works
  • Liaise with the client and facilities team to coordinate initial responses to engineering requests
  • Deputise for the Shift Leader and attend site meetings or provide reports as required

Skills & Experience

  • Background in Facilities Management (FM)
  • Experience working in a business-critical environment
  • Strong written, IT, and verbal communication skills
  • Positive team-oriented approach
  • Full UK driving licence (company van provided for travel to secondary site)

Qualifications

  • Qualified Mechanical Engineer/Plumber (to recognised standards)
  • Preferred: L8 training certification
  • Preferred: Mechanical Authorised Person (AP) status
