THE OPPORTUNITY:
My client is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their design and projects team. You will bring a strong mechanical engineering background, CAD design skills and a practical approach to their small and motivated Engineering and Design team desiging, developing and bringing to market a range of products and projects for their customers in the process and other industries.
You may be an engineering graduate with a few years experience have other engineering qualifications backed by a solid track record and looking for your next challenge where you can make a significant contribution.
THE ROLE:
In this role you will support design and development activities by:
- Designing products in response to market and customer requirements and specifications.
- Producing engineering drawings for production using Solidworks CAD.
- Managing BoM’s and production drawings and specifications.
- Problem solving, developing and testing prototype products, components and assemblies.
- Communicating with projects engineers, sales and customers as needed on technical matters.
- Supporting production and assembly to manage quality issues and improve manufacturability and cost.
- On occasion visiting customer sites or industry events to understand requirements and solve problems.
- Supporting the engineering change processes.
- Assisting with product documentation including manuals and the certification processes for relevant industry approvals.
TO APPLY:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Graduate/HND/HNC in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Mechanical design experience with ideally an understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes, materials (metals) and components would be an advantage.
- 3D CAD skills (ideally Solidworks).
- Experience of engineering tools (e.g. stress calculations, FEA, FMEA, DFM) desirable
- Ability to use a variety of test and measuring equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and time productively.
- A practical approach and the ability to use manual tools.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Good organisational skills with high attention to detail.
- Able to deliver market ready products including documentation and certifications.
You will be a motivated team player with a can-do attitude and a hands-on approach who enjoys solving real world engineering problems and seeing your work in production and use.
A full driving license is necessary.
