Contek Recruitment are currently working exclusively with a precision engineering group, who are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The company are a quality-focused precision engineering/manufacturing and sub-contract machining company specialising in defence project work and the design and manufacture of superior quality work-holding solutions.
They predominantly supply the nuclear, aerospace and defence, medical, machine tool, automotive, and power generation sectors. The customer base includes blue-chip organisations such as Rolls Royce, Boeing, Siemens, and Toyota to name only a few.
They have capabilities for a range of services, including:
- CNC milling and CNC turning.
- Wire erosion (EDM machining)
- Universal, surface, and jig grinding.
- Precision assembly.
- Vibratory finishing.
- 3D printing.
- CMM Inspection.
JOB ROLE: Mechanical Design Engineer
JOB TYPE: Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 39 hours per week - Monday to Thursday (7:15am – 4:15pm) and Friday (7:15am – 12:30pm) – Flexible for the right person
SALARY: £36,000.00 - £45,000.00 per year (Dependent on experience)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and development of mechanical components using SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, and Siemens NX.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to create detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Conduct design reviews and participate in project planning meetings.
- Support the development of work holding solutions and machine tool setups.
- Perform analysis and testing of prototypes to ensure compliance with specifications and performance standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of designs, changes, and testing results.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and quality assurance, to ensure successful project execution.
PERSON REQUIREMENTS
- Previous hands-on experience using Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor, or Siemens NX is required.
- An understanding of machine tools and workholding fixtures.
- A committed and driven approach to work.

- To be positive and self-motivated.
