Contract - Mechanical Design Engineer (Outside IR35)


📍 West Yorkshire region (Leeds / Bradford)
💰 Gross Rate - £40.00 - £45.00p/h DOE

🕗 Monday to Friday / Some flexible working

📅 3-6 months (potential for extension)

We are representing a key client, who are a market-leading engineering company that specialises in supplying bespoke process, automation and special purpose machinery to high-end technology industries.

Due to new project wins, you'll take ownership of the design from initial concept through to completion, working on bespoke cutting-edge equipment that pushes the boundaries of engineering design.

Daily responsibilities:

  • Leading the full lifecycle of mechanical design projects, from concept through detail design and into manufacture.
  • Producing high-quality 3D CAD models and detailed drawings using Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Applying Geometric Tolerancing (GT&D) and carrying out design calculations where needed.
  • Liaising with clients, project managers, and production teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Person specification:

  • Minimum HNC Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong experience in 3D CAD – Inventor or SolidWorks or similar.
  • A proven track record of managing designs independently through to manufacture.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical design calculations is a strong advantage.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach and a genuine passion for mechanical engineering.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
