Mechanical Design Engineer

Contract: 6 Months | Outside IR35
Working: Monday–Friday | 3 Days Office-Based

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a Principal Contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across the Rail, Utilities and Airport sectors.

The role will focus on delivering detailed mechanical building services designs, with a strong emphasis on HVAC systems. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary design team, supporting projects from detailed design through to construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver detailed mechanical and HVAC designs.
  • Produce drawings, layouts, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Carry out design calculations and equipment sizing.
  • Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure designs meet relevant standards and client requirements.
  • Resolve technical queries and support design reviews.
  • Work closely with project and construction teams.
  • Deliver design packages to programme and quality requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within building services.
  • Strong HVAC design experience.
  • Experience working on major infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Experience within Rail, Utilities, Airports or similar sectors desirable.
  • Principal Contractor experience advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of UK standards and building services regulations.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP desirable.
  • Relevant engineering qualification preferred.

Contract Details:

  • 6-month contract
  • Outside IR35
  • Monday to Friday
  • 3 days per week in the office
  • Major infrastructure projects
  • Principal Contractor environment
