Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in building services, looking for an opportunity where you can take ownership of projects and play a key role in the growth of a developing engineering team?

We are delighted to be supporting a well-established organisation based in Wanstead, who are looking to appoint a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing Building Services team.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take responsibility for the mechanical design of multiple building services projects, working from initial concept through to completion.

You will work closely with clients, architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams, providing technical expertise throughout the design and delivery process.

There is also an opportunity for the successful candidate to play an important role in the continued development and growth of the mechanical design department as the business expands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design across multiple projects from concept through to completion.
  • Produce detailed mechanical calculations and technical specifications.
  • Assist with technical drawings, with the ability to produce your own drawings where required.
  • Coordinate closely with clients, architects and wider multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards, regulations and sustainability requirements.
  • Attend site visits, surveys and client meetings as required.
  • Provide technical input during design reviews and project planning.
  • Manage your own workload and coordinate design stages across multiple projects.
  • Contribute technical knowledge and ideas to improve project delivery.
  • Support the continued growth and development of the mechanical design function.

About You

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical building services design, ideally with experience working across a variety of sectors.

You will be technically capable, organised and confident working with clients and multidisciplinary teams. The ability to take ownership of projects while contributing to the wider development of the department will be particularly important.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Strong mechanical building services design experience.
  • Experience delivering projects across multiple sectors.
  • Ability to lead design stages and coordinate wider project teams.
  • Strong understanding of relevant design standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency with relevant mechanical design software.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • A genuine interest in developing technically and contributing to the growth of a team.
