Role Overview

As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of design activities across a range of projects, ensuring solutions meet technical, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. The role involves participation in design reviews, close collaboration with cross-functional teams, and providing mentorship to junior engineers. You’ll help ensure that all outputs are robust, manufacturable, and aligned with customer and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and development work from initial concept through to production and post-production support.

  • Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and quality standards.

  • Produce and maintain drawings, specifications, and documentation in line with relevant standards (ISO9007/AS9100).

  • Review and sign off engineering documentation as part of the design approval process.

  • Participate in and contribute to design reviews.

  • Work collaboratively with analysis, manufacturing, integration, safety, and trials teams.

  • Support the preparation of technical publications and deliverable documents.

  • Process engineering change requests and concessions in line with internal procedures.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and optimisation of design processes.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a similar engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven design engineering experience within a regulated sector (aerospace, defence, medical devices, etc.).

  • Strong CAD capability (SolidWorks preferred but not essential).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong communication abilities.

  • A motivated, conscientious individual with leadership potential.
