We are working with a rapidly growing technology company developing cutting-edge diagnostic products used within healthcare environments. Due to continued growth and ongoing product development activities, they are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Product Development team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Updating and improving existing product designs using CAD
  • Managing engineering changes through formal change control processes
  • Conducting physical testing and evaluation activities to support product improvements
  • Investigating product issues and supporting root cause analysis activities
  • Creating and maintaining engineering documentation, drawings and specifications
  • Supporting Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) activities
  • Working closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to resolve technical issues
  • Supporting verification and validation activities
  • Maintaining product documentation in line with quality and regulatory requirements

About You

We are looking for an engineer with experience working within a regulated industry such as medical devices, diagnostics, aerospace or another highly controlled engineering environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Commercial experience in product design and development
  • Strong CAD skills, ideally using SolidWorks
  • Experience managing design changes through formal change control processes
  • Knowledge of DFMEA and risk management activities
  • Experience carrying out product testing and supporting engineering investigations
  • Strong documentation and technical report writing skills
  • Experience working within a quality management system

Desirable Experience

  • ISO 13485 or FDA-regulated environments
  • Medical device, diagnostics or life science products
  • Product verification and validation activities
  • Design transfer and supplier management

  • PDM systems and configuration management
